NEWS 1) "ARE THIEVES OPERATING IN YOUR AREA" There is a gang , usually three people, which are targeting Launderettes. They have a MASTER KEY that enables them to open coin boxes that have the round barrel key. The whole event was shown to us by a customer who captured it on CCTV .The shop is attended. Usually one of the men distracts the attendant by asking for change, then putting some clothes in the dryer. Meanwhile the other two begin to position themselves, with one standing in front of the washing machine thus blocking the attendants view, whilst the other man sets the master key to unlock the coin boxes. They move along very quickly whilst the man drying acts as a look out, distracting the attendant further if she suspects that there is something going on.If the attendant realises and confronts them, they simply laugh and walk out of the shop. They dont threaten the attendant, as that would deem their crime to be more serious and the police would get more involved, rather then treating it as theft. As no one was assaulted. Customers in the shops usally realise what is happening but they are too frightened to say anything.FULLY ATTENDED or CCTV, will not stop these people. The best solution is to replace your locks with a High Security Lock. We have a range of locks that are available and would stop this happening.
